If a Leader Advocates, Peace Why Do We Name Warships After Them?

Question by pompanopete0: If a Leader advocates, Peace why do we name Warships after them?
I wonder how Princess Diana or Pope JP or Gandhi etc., would feel about having a vessel of War named to “honor?” them.

PEACE; a word we don’t hear much anymore, just war and security.
War on Crime, Drugs, Obesity, Illiteracy and Poverty; none work.

I guess it would sound wierd reading the news;
“The Princess Di strikes Terrorist Cell, Killing all.”
It is true,

The concept of Peace escapes me.

Its a tradition but I feel a ship named BUSH would be not very lucky for shure….
